This team works to support the children and staff at the Abbot-Downing School, a neighborhood elementary school. Wesley volunteers read with children, assist at the school health fair, and support teachers as needed. Periodically, the team promotes a church-wide ingathering of school supplies. Additionally, the Wesley team raises funds to provide needy children with specific items when there are emergency needs. For example, items such as medicine, eyeglasses, or other items are sometimes needed right away and no other source of support is available.
The Abbot-Downing team also partners with the school's "68 Hours of Hunger" Program that provides weekend backpack food for needy kids in the neighborhood. Our team wil collect certain items needed, several times per year.
