At Wesley, we   Go to Serve  by using our hands and feet, our minds and resources to share God's love and compassion with neighbors - next door and around the world.

  • united women OF FAITH

The Wesley UMF group is dedicated to learning the needs of women and children world-wide and taking action. This group engages a reading program, is concerned about social action, supports a missionary and local projects. Wesley Women also take part in fun, fellowship gatherings! Please join us!

UMW meets about once a month, usually the first Monday @ 1 pm.

  • Abbot-Downing Team

This team works to support the children of Abbot-Downing School, the elementary school around the corner from the church. Wesley volunteers read with children, assist at the school health fair, and support teachers as needed. Periodically, the team promotes church-wide in-gatherings of school supplies as well as food for the weekend backpacks to needy children. Additionally, the Wesley team raises funds to provide children with specific emergency needs.

  • family promise

Wesley's Family Promise Team, together with other churches in the capital area, provides homeless families with free temporary housing while they are working on addressing other issues contributing to their situation. This program helps families achieve long-lasting independence.  You can learn about Family Promise here. Wesley also responds to acute needs such as collecting items needed, donating supplies, or partnering on projects.

  • Second Start Support

On every fifth Sunday, Wesley collects food to help stock the food pantry at Concord’s Second Start Alternative High School. Many students in this program live independently and have little or no support. Please bring food that can be prepared without a stove (microwaveable okay) such as ramen, mac & cheese, pop-tarts, granola bars, crackers & peanut butter. They also appreciate toiletry items. Wesley also raises funds periodically to help support other programs for the students.

  • United Methodist Committee on Relief

As natural disasters occur around the world, "UMCOR" responds to the need. Depending on the reserves in various warehouses around the US and the world, UMCOR asks churches to help replenish the stores. They often need flood buckets, hygiene kits, and school kits. Several Wesley groups periodically do UMCOR drives. To learn about UMCOR, check out this video.

  • Reconciling ministries

Wesley UMC is a member of the Reconciling Ministries Network, an organization that promotes equality for all persons within the life and leadership of the UM church around the world.  At Wesley, we call our group "Jericho."  In addition to efforts of Jericho on LBGTQ+ issues, church members also periodically educate, collect funds, and/or promote participation in other social justice movements.
